A: Every network has a unique IP address. This IP address helps us determine who is accessing your myStratus account. By allowing you to choose which IP addresses can access your database through myStratus Desktop, you can make sure that only authorized people/networks can access your data. Whether that's a studio computer or an employee working from home, it's important for you to be able to protect your data.
A: With Stratus, you can restrict their IP address so they can no longer access your database.
A: The simple answer is that your IP address keeps changing. Most Internet service providers automatically assign your IP address and they may change it without warning. You may be working fine one day and get a message the following day that your IP address has not been "authorized," requiring you to authorize a new one. To avoid this, we suggest checking with your ISP and requesting a "Static IP Address" that will never change. There may be an additional cost, but it shouldn't be much. Also, this may be a good time to see what bandwidth speeds you're currently paying for. You may be able to upgrade for a few dollars more each month, giving you a faster experience in general and when using myStratus Desktop. Here's another explanation:
1. Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) controls the IP Address you use when connecting to Stratus - or any web site, web page, any connection that uses their Internet Service.
2. You can get a dedicated IP address - but if most users are not working in the same location (the studio), this wouldn't really help. You'd be paying more money for the dedicated IP address, but not all users would be using that - since they are at not in the studio.
3. Your ISP can, and does, change their IP Address frequently. How often is not in our control, or yours. You could ask them why they are now changing it so often, but they might not be able to, or willing to, give an answer that makes any sense to you
