Q: Is there a difference between a Render Profile and a Render Job? How do I know which one to set up?

What is a Render Profile?

Render profiles are used to group similar items together that can be rendered with the same set of instructions. Each render profile contains instructions on how to produce and/or print a certain batch of images, including DPI, image bleed, printer (or printer pool), destination folder, etc. Render profiles should be set up before a render job.

What is a Render Job?

Render jobs are utilized to tell StudioPlus Finale when a group of images is ready to be rendered or printed. Render jobs function as the link between Spectra/myStratus and Finale. A render job contains specific instructions for which of your render profiles should run and the timing of when they should be run. 

Setting Up Render Profiles to Print in Finale

If a render profile will also be printing images, and you want Finale to print those images, make sure the Printing Options section is filled out on the Output Options tab of the render profile. Also, ensure the box Let StudioPlus Finale print these images has been checked. See also: Render Printers and Render Printer Pools.

Setting up Render Jobs

After setting up your render profiles, you can then create the render jobs. The render job is the link between Spectra/myStratus and Finale. To set up Render Jobs, go to Maintenance > Digital > Render Jobs. See Render Jobs for basic set up instructions.



Here's how render jobs operate, using the highlighted render job in the screenshot above as an example:

1. This render job is set as a Session type job, with Sales Presentation Completed as the Select Status. This means that anytime a session record's Session Status is changed to Sales Presentation Completed, that record will have a new render job created in Finale that's ready to be processed. 2. When the job moves over to Finale to be rendered, it will render out the images according to the settings from the Selected Low-Res render profile.
3. After Finale has completed rendering the job, it will change the session record's status to the Finish or Error Status - depending on the outcome of the job.
