How can I sell Unit Based Items on InspiredByYou?

Yes, we said it, InspiredByYou allows you to sell Unit Base Packages!!

Here's a few concepts you need to understand and will give you the tools necessary to create  Unit Based Packages:

  • How to add an Item Group (please review the video found here, minute 4:35)
  • How to add and use Item Tags
  • How to add an Item (please review the video found here, minute 5:01)
  • How to add a Package
Once you've reviewed the concepts above, here's the necessary steps to use the Unit Based Packages.
  1. Go to Maintenance > Price List > Price Lists

  2. Expand the Price List used for InspiredByYou, you may have more than one Price List that is used online

  3. Add a new Price List Item Group using a name that makes sense to you and your clients to hold the Unit Packages

  4. Be sure the Price List Item Group that contains the Packages is flagged to Show Item Group Online

  5. Add a new Price List Item Group using a name that makes sense to you and your clients to hold the Units themselves

  6. Be sure the Price List Item Group  that contains the Units is NOT flagged to Show Item Group Online

  7.  Add a new Item Tag

  8. In the top row of the new window that opens, type in Unit, and tab to the next row

  9. Close Price List Item Tags window

  10. Back on the Management tab, highlight the Price List Item Group created to hold the items that are actually sold,  and then click New Item

  11. We recommend adding the new item using the Item Identifier and Item Description as shown here.  It is mandatory that the Item Type be Miscellaneous.   This is a "holding" item the client will replace with their unit choice.   The Item Group should already show the Item Group from step 7 above,

  12. On the Miscellaneous tab, set up the exact same section as shown here, use the Item Tag you created in step 10, Save and Close once the new Pick a Unit item is created.  NOTE: Do not make any other changes to the other tabs on this item.

  13. CREATE UNIT ITEMS:   Before creating a package, each unit that will be included in the package must be added to the price list as an individual item. These units will be used as the components of the package and each individual unit must be clearly defined.  For example, 1 unit (one sheet of pager)  = 1- 8x10 OR 2-5x7s OR 4-4x5 OR 8-wallets. (each unit would all be the same image).  We'll continue by showing you how to create one 8 x 10 unit, and you can use it as a guide to add the rest of the units you'll be selling.

  14. With the Unit Items Price List highlighted, click New Item, pay close attention to the Item Group, it must be the same as the one set up in step 7

  15. Move to the Miscellaneous tab, and add the following details, do NOT miss the Unit Value or Require image selection

  16. On the Digital and Fulfillment tab, be certain to input the Print Width and Print Height, as well as any other studio specific details necessary (shown in green boxes)

  17. On the Item Tags tab, add the Item Tag from step 10 by selecting it, and clicking the >

  18. On the InspiredByYou.com tab, flag the Options to Show Item Online and Save and Close

  19. Repeat steps 13 - 18 to add all the Unit items to be sold

  20. CREATE UNIT PACKAGES TO SELL:  Now that all the Unit items have been created, let's create a Package that allows the client to purchase any 2 units

  21. Highlight the Price List Item Group created to hold the Packages created in step 3

  22.  With the Unit Items Price List highlighted, click New Item, pay close attention to the Item Group, make sure it's the same one defined in step 3.  We recommend making the Item Description contain the number of Units they are purchasing

  23. Moving to the Miscellaneous tab, set the number of Unit Value (number of units) included in the package

  24. On the Package Components tab, add the "holding" item created in step 11.  Since the package we're creating allows your clients to pick 2 units, the holding item needs to be added two times

  25.  On the InspiredByYou.com tab, check the box to "Show Item Online" and fill in any of the tabs according to the directions found here,  Save and close.

  26. Repeat steps 20 - 25 to add the rest of the Unit Packages
