Genius is a payment processing platform designed and offered exclusively by TSYS (Formerly Cayan). This topic walks you through the steps to configure the Mini Genius Terminal for use alongside Spectra/myStratus. This platform supports traditional credit and debit cards, gift and loyalty cards, chip cards (EMV), and mobile payment applications like Apple Pay® and Android Pay®.

Here's how to get started:

1 - Purchase or lease a Genius device from TSYS

2 - Download the Genius Mini app and connect it with the Mini terminal

1. Search for "Genius Mini" in your Apple or Android device's app store. The app should be one of the first ones listed.


2. After the app finishes downloading, launch the Genius Mini app and power on the Mini terminal.


3. If using a Bluetooth Mini terminal, make sure to turn on Bluetooth for your Apple or Android device.


4. Click the line No Device. Please Select Device. to connect the Genius app with the Mini terminal.


5. Select whether you are connecting via the Audio Jack or through Bluetooth. If connecting through Bluetooth, you will then be prompted to select your device.

3 - Set it up in Spectra/myStratus Desktop

HERE'S A FLASH FOR YOU! Currently, a connection with Spectra/myStratus Desktop is required in order initiate payments with the mini terminal. However, it is planned to integrate this mobile credit card processing solution with the myStratus Mobile App in future versions.

Perform the following steps on each computer you will use with this Genius device.

1. Go to Maintenance > Preferences > Workstation Preferences and open the Credit Cards tab.

2. Check the Use Genius Customer Engagement Device (CED) option.
   
   

3. Enter the IP Address for the device.

   Follow these steps to determine the IP for your mini terminal:

   1. Open the Genius app on your Apple or Android device.
   
   
   2. Select the i icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
   
   
   3. The IP address is the first line listed.

4. Click OK to save your preferences.

4 - Processing a Payment with an EMV (chip) Card

1. Create a payment on an invoice. See also: Creating a Payment

2. Enter amount to be paid. Tip! Use the payment tools to easily choose a percentage of the invoice or the full balance.

3. Click Get Swiped. Note: All Genius Terminals must be on the same WiFi/Network connection in order to connect to Spectra/myStratus.
   

4. A status window will appear in Spectra/myStratus and the amount will be displayed on the Genius terminal.
   
   

5. Insert the EMV card in the bottom of the terminal. Do not remove until prompted!

6. Approval will be indicated on the terminal and in Spectra/myStratus.
   
   

7. Save and close the payment.
