Ordering a Card Reader

Initial Set-up

Step 1: Start up the Stripe S700 or S710

1. Power on the card reader.

2. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete initial setup, including:

   • Connecting to Wi‑Fi.

   • Installing any required updates.

3. After the initial start up completes, the reader displays a Pairing Code. Keep this code ready for the next step.

Step 2: Register the reader in myStratus

1.  Open myStratus on the primary computer that will use the reader.

2. Go to: Maintenance > Preferences > Workstation Preferences.

3. Open the Credit Card tab.

4. Click Add New Reader.

5. In the registration window:

   • In Reader Label, enter a name for the device (example: Front Desk S700).

   • In Registration Code, enter the Pairing Code shown on the reader.

6. Click OK to register the reader.

7. After registration completes:

   • Select the new device from the Card Reader drop-down.

8. Click OK to save the Workstation Preferences.

9. You can now select this card reader on any workstation that needs access to taking payments from the Workstation Preferences > Credit Card tab

Step 3: How to take a payment using the device

1. Create a new payment record in myStratus. (Can be created from an invoice, customer deposit, etc.)

2. Click the Device Reader payment action button.

3. The payment is sent to the powered-on card reader to complete on the device.

Generate a new pairing code (if needed)

If a new pairing code is ever needed (e.g. resetting the reader or if initial code disappears), generate one directly from the reader:

1. On the card reader, swipe from the left-hand side of the screen.

2. Select Settings.

3. Enter the admin passcode.

   • System default passcode: 07139

4. Select Generate Pairing Code.

5. Enter the new pairing code in myStratus using: Maintenance > Preferences > Workstation Preferences > Credit Card tab > Add New Reader.

Enable tipping on the card reader (if desired)

Tipping is controlled in Company Preferences (not Workstation Preferences). Note: Because tipping is added after a payment is initiated, the system will not add a surcharge to tip totals.

1. In myStratus, go to: Maintenance > Preferences > Company Preferences.

2. Open the Payments tab.

3. Check Enable Tipping.

4. In Prompt Type, choose one option:

   • Percentage Prompts (example: 10%, 20%, 30%).

   • Amount Prompts (example: $10, $20, $50).

   • Smart Prompts (example: Shows $10 and $20 unless the total is greater than $100, then shows percentage prompts).

5. Beneath Prompt Type, enter the default amounts to display based on the previous selection.

6. Click OK to save the Company Preferences.

Quick checks if something does not work

• Reader is not showing in the Card Reader drop-down: Confirm the registration completed successfully, then reopen Workstation Preferences > Credit Card and check again.

• Payment is not appearing on the device: Confirm the reader is powered on and the correct reader is selected in Workstation Preferences before pressing Device Reader.

• A pairing code is needed again: Use Settings > Generate pairing code on the Stripe S700 and register again using Add New Reader.
